Casalecchio di Reno is a town of 32,877 inhabitants, situated in the Province of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy.
[edit] History
Casalecchio's name is derived from Casaliculum (collection of little houses), while "Reno" is derived from a Germanic word meaning "stream" or "river." The site has archaeological treasures dating from the Paleolithic and Villanovan eras; Etruscan remains have also been found. Its inhabitants are called casalecchiesi.
The Battle of Casalecchio took place here on June 26, 1402.
