Carterartist,
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We're glad you have decided to join the Wikipedia project, it's a lot of fun. However, I would like to mention that it is general Wikipedia practice to not write articles about ourselves in the general namespace. However, if you would like to post information about yourself, you may create a page at Carterartist, which is your personal page. On that page, you may post as much information about yourself as you would like, and we would love for you to do so there. I personally enjoy being able to find out more about the other people contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you will continue to help make Wikipedia a better place! EvilPhoenix

What if Shakespeare was alive, and could start writing his history? Or jesus? Or Michelangelo? I didn't mean to start a "vanity page" , but I am an artist, just like any other modern artist. So what's the harm in creating an article to comment upon this fact? Just like the artist who realized his art would never make it into a gallery, he put his pieces there himself, well I'm starting to write my history.
Just as it was innapropriate for the artist you mentioned to place his own work into a gallery, it is innapropriate for you to create an article about yourself on Wikipedia. It's a simple matter of courtesy, it would be like if I went to my own user page and awarded myself a Barnstar; only other Wikipedians may give me one, I can't just give one to myself. If you succeed as an artist to the point where you have achieved a certain level of notability, and someone else writes an article about you, that's fine, but it's just not appropriate for you to do this yourself, and doing so will never be looked at positively on Wikipedia. As I said previously, feel free to write about yourself and your work on your user page, User:carterartist. EvilPhoenix 20:45, May 16, 2005 (UTC)
