[edit] Welcome

Hi, Carradee. Welcome to Wikipedia. It's probably not appropriate to send you the standard welcome message that I send to other newcomers, as you're married to an experienced Wikipedian who can probably answer all your questions. (I followed the link on his page to yours.) But I just wanted to say a quick "hi", and I'm delighted that you've joined. Regards, Ann Heneghan (talk) 20:12, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] You can do ASL now

After seeing what you had to go through to put ASL into your Babel template (using subst: and all) I gave the guys on that template a suggestion for how to avoid having to go to that much trouble. And they took it. So now you can go replace all that with {{Babel-4|en|es-1|asl-1|ot-3}}. :)

BTW, I thought you'd like to start your day with that happy orange bar saying you had messages. :) :* Jdavidb (talk) 04:30, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Oh! Messages!! LOL, thank you, I hated all that mess. I felt smothered by clutter.--Carradee 23:23, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tomorrow

To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;

I see you've been busy. ;) Jdavidb (talk) 17:56, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

Merely defending the English language, my dear :)--Carradee 16:01, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
Look at her, a prisoner of the gutter,
Condemned by every syllable she ever uttered.
By law she should be taken out and hung,
For the cold-blooded murder of the English tongue.
Why can't the English teach their children how to speak?
This verbal class distinction, by now, should be antique.
If you spoke as she does, sir,
Instead of the way you do,
Why, you might be selling flowers, too!
An Englishman's way of speaking absolutely classifies him,
The moment he talks he makes some other Englishman despise him.
One common language I'm afraid we'll never get.
Oh, why can't the English learn to set
A good example to people whose English is painful to your ears?
The Scotch and the Irish leave you close to tears.
There even are places where English completely disappears:
In America, they haven't used it for years!
Why can't the English teach their children how to speak?
Norwegians learn Norwegian; the Greeks have taught their Greek.
In France every Frenchman knows his language from "A" to "Zed"
(The French never care what they do, actually,
as long as they pronounce in properly.)
Arabians learn Arabian with the speed of summer lightning.
And Hebrews learn it backwards,
which is absolutely frightening.
But use proper English you're regarded as a freak.
Why can't the English learn to speak?

You are very welcome. Minor edits are important too. If you see a fellow fixer at work and you think it is appropriate, you too can award a minor Barnstar.
