[edit] Technomancer Press
I'm not here to protest a deletion, but I do have a few questions / comments. I am familiar with the company, and I'm not a part of the company (I have interacted with them in and out of a convention or two). I personally think that they are notable. The real problem with the article (according to the AFD) was that it was a company advertisement? I think I could rewrite the article with a more objective perspective. Would I have your support on that? Would it be possible for me to have access to the original deleted article (history) in order to facilitate the creation of a new article? [edit] Tamara Davies
Please look through the history of the page, and then at this noticeboard discussion. As far as I can see, we have a minor, but IMHO likely notable actress here, who's page has been BLP hatchet-stubbed. (And likely properly so.) The fact that it was chopped down to a stub does not make her less notable. The page needs major work, likely rebuilding from scratch, but I don't think it should be deleted. - TexasAndroid (talk) 18:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Romanian communes
There points: a) I fully agree the commune articles need the additional information in them. However, my present objective is mere creation of stubs, pitiful though they may be, and whether I add more now or in three weeks' time I don't think will make a great difference. That is, I hope you don't mind my creating those stubs, given my intent to expand them. It's just that I'm after quantity rather than quality for the moment. b) The GEONet links come up as gibberish on my computer; do they work on yours? c) If I may, I'd advise you not to link to or create articles on Romanian villages (as opposed to communes). The reasons are alluded to here and here, but the basic idea is that a) as they have no official status and generally number only a few hundred residents, villages tend not to be notable; b) potential for commune stubs to develop into full-fledged articles is slim, for villages even less; c) what there is to be said about a 5-village commune can easily be said in a single article (again, generally speaking); and d) in cases (and this is the norm) where commune A has villages A,B,C,D and E, confusion is bound to arise between commune A and village A, disambiguating becomes even harder, etc. So please let's try to stick to communes only. Biruitorul (talk) 02:45, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- I promise I will be adding more information to the commune stubs, but that's not my main concern; it's the village article creation that still worries me. I asked User:Dahn to weigh in, and he did; I invite you to see his post on my talk page, most of which is addressed to you. The only thing I'll add is that ro.wiki has some rather serious credibility problems and that they are not exactly a model to be emulated in every respect. Anyway, after reading Dahn's comment, please let me/us know if you're still interested in creating those 13,000 or so micro-stubs on villages. Biruitorul (talk) 01:32, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Dahn wrote a reply to you on my talk page; it may interest you. I don't mean to sound harsh, but it would be helpful if you could drop the "every village is notable" mantra for a moment and actually grapple with the arguments we're bringing forward. (Or "any little dot on a map" - by the way, have you found any maps that show Romanian villages?) The real question is: will it kill us if we don't have 13,000 micro-stubs but instead fold (ie, merge) that information into 2600 slightly longer stubs (maybe even articles) with proper redirects and everything? All we're asking is that "X is a village in Y commune, Z county, Romania" be a line in the article on Y rather than a separate article. Is that too much to ask? Biruitorul (talk) 17:49, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paramax
Could I ask you to take another look at this AfD? I've moved the article to the appropriate title, expanded it and added a reference, which takes care of a couple of your original concerns. The combination is used differently from either drug independently and there is also a suggested effect on paracetamol's absorption by metoclopramide, which suggests an article on this topic would be useful. There is a lot more that could be added, but I'm no expert in this therapeutic area. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 13:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. There is a discussion at Talk:Aqaba pertaining to the need for a disambig page there. You replaced the disambig with the main article without contributing to that discussion. [edit] New Project
Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:24, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Not intentional. But I have spoken to you many times about categorizing or adding an infobox and given that you didn't respond I took for granted you were ignoring me. WHhen somebody doesn't respond to my good intentions (given that I am trying very hard to ensure consistency with categories and goe article layout across wikipedia) I immediately assume they disagree with me, Otherwise keep up the good disamb work ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:57, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
No what you are doing is fine. But I believe an infobox with a pushpin map and coordinates is helpful and easy to do given that you have added the wiki mini atlas coordinates anyway. E.g I believe that an article like Simaw is better for having the infobox and map than without. Best of intentions. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:04, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Matelot, Trinidad
A tag has been placed on Matelot, Trinidad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}

[edit] Ethnicity/national origin category pages
Carlossuarez, I thought I better reply to your comments from WP:Cats for discussion on this here as when I add the rest of the pages I m nominating I may be preventing you from adding comments, although I m quite sure I ve said everything I think on the matter already. You might be surprised to hear that, despite human migration being a pet interest of mine, I would not be that against getting rid of these cat pages altogether but know, from my involvement with them over a few years, that it is impossible, that there is that much of a "demand" for them. therefore, I d like to see them as tidy as possible, with uniform naming. it seems clear from what I ve read of your comments you ll settle for nothing short of ridding wikip of them. but how can they be permanently barred beyond constant policing of them, which personally I m not interested in being involved in. - our views are miles apart, in the end. in no way do I see indicating ethnicity as racism in disguise. racism is acting upon racial differences in ways that hurt, not stating mere facts about ethnicity (stating one's nationality does not make one nationalistic either, nor are nuclear scientists to blame for the use of nuclear weapons) trying to define one ethnicity from another is not at all a concern of ours, as wikip contributors - its the work of sociologists and other experts and ours is to report their published findings. the same goes for the concern you raise on how far back we are to go with these (should we have them), that we all have African roots, that many Mexicans have Native American roots, as well as Spanish ones which in turn may have Arab ones, Roman ones, etc. - for whichever links are made, of a person's article page to a cat page for a particular descent, or a cat page to a supercat page, say Category:Native Americans as a subcat of Category:People of Asian descent, there needs to be a source (or two). Provision of sources, like everything, control how far back one can go with indicating ethn./nat. origin. Mayumashu (talk) 02:26, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- No, not a lack a sources for out of Africa. I m talking about the other links, that an American of Mexican descent would typically only be linked to the one category page, and would rarely be linked to the page for being of Spanish descent and almost never to Arab or Roman descent pages because there would be no source available to substantiate these claims (as true as they may or may not be). And no we wouldn t add African descent links to all biographies - we should link Category:People of Asian descent and Category:People of European descent, and the cat page that collects all native people of the Americas and their descendents, which in theory would collect all people of recent non-African descent to Category:People of African descent with a note and cited source links/publication details.

- Classifying by ethnicity/national origin has little to actually do with classifying by race, as racial makeup is far less of a factor in the determination of nearly all ethnic groups (a noteble expect being African-American) than does shared cultural experience, as seen in linguistic and to a lesser extent religious aspects to culture. Even when it does involve classifying by race, its as far from racisim as your and my views on this matter, as it unfortunately still very much appears that they are Mayumashu (talk) 18:10, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- none - those of, in particular, partial ethnicity share virtually no shared experience due to their ethnic link. stating one's ethnicity is not stating that one (necessarily) shares or has shared particular experiences. taking up the argument then the pages provide largely trivial info - I agree that they do. the question is how trivial, and the only way this is determined here is by the discussing we do on WP:Dfordeletion, obviously. there has not been a push to delete them, or at least for some time (and past attempts did not at all prove to be successful, obviously) for me, if there s going to be recognition of nationality, then citizenship and ethnicity need to be equally and universally recognized and described. My last word on it in our talk here is that burden of providing sourcing policies this, as it does everything elso on wikip. Despite our opposing views, nothing in the way of bad feelings I hope. Hello,
You stated that you deleted the article because it was a copy of our own non-profit organization's website. I am confused as to how it can be a copyright infringement when it is our own material. [edit] Bot approved: dabbing help needed
Hi there. Fritz bot has been approved at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/FritzpollBot for filling in a possible 1.8 million articles on settlements across the world. Now dabbing needs to be done for links which aren't sorted as the bot will bypass any blue links. and I need as many people as possible to help me with Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Places to prepare for the bot. If you could tackle a page or two everything counts as it will be hard to do it alone. For those problematic places with the same name in the same province, a dabbing problems page will be made to list these that can be sorted later. Thankyou ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:03, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
They are drawn up like that using a bot by province or district. I'm afraid theres nothing I can do about names not being next to each other. But all we have to do is just check the links that have shown up blue to ensure they correspond to the correct article. The bot will bypass any blue links so we need to ensure that those already linked are correct ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
That sounds like a good idea, perhaps discuss it with User:Fritzpoll ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:27, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I've created a page for those links which are problematic at we discussed the other day at Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Places/Problematic naming. Still very much appreciate your work in the disamb department. Whether people kick up enough fuss to stop the bot running fully or not, these places will all be added soon enough guaranteed. Keep up the good work ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
