i wasent trying to do what you said i was doing, i was trying to make genuine point. kind regards richard

That's nice, and your interest in Wikipedia is most welcome. Adding personal opinions, however, such as saying that a certain country is "the most powerful" is contrary to many Wikipedia policies, including WP:OR and WP:WEASEL. Kind regards JdeJ (talk) 11:04, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

well is ovusily shows how powerfull we are, we have the united states fully on our side with any war with any country in the world, and we havent lost a war sience we lost to the united states a hell of a long time ago, but france did, if it wasent for us getting involved in WW1 and 2 france would of got the hell kicked out of them, fair enough we needed to states too though.

Look, no offence intended but I'm having a bit of a hard time assuming good faith here. Why do you claim to British? Sorry to say this, but your written English is so bad that it's rather obvious that you're not British. When you claim to be something you're clearly not and you make edits that appear to be written only to provoke, you must understand that your sincerity will be put in doubt. JdeJ (talk) 09:01, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

i speak welsh first, english second, i am 1/2 british and classed as a white british citizen, lived just outside Cardiff most of my life, my family is from USA and Italy, but imagrated to Wales but thank god where going back to live in Washington DC in 2012. There is nothing wrong with my english its called slang i am only 15 i dont talk proper english to my friends on my computer because i have to do enough of that in school and you will find everyone my age is like that and i had 88% in my last english exam so dont offend my nationalty nd english thank you very much, if you dont believe me i can send you my bebo page, msn what ever and you will see UK on the end of it. If i wasent slightly british or didnt live in britain why would i care who is most powerfull most countries outside america and the EU hate us and why would i have a name Cardiff123098 which is a major city in the U.K, My parents are actually over here working for the British goverment but i wont give out my personal details sorry because i am not alowd and the securacy act was signed by my parents.

Sorry if I offended you, it wasn't my intention. Needless to say, you should definitely never give out your personal details! Back to the topic, though. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and the facts found here should be neutral and verifiable. You're completely entitled to thinking that the UK is the most powerful country if you want to, but that's your personal opinion and not relevant in an encyclopedia. As the UK neither has the largest population nor the largest economy in the EU, saying that it's the most powerful country in the EU is contestable, to say the least. JdeJ (talk) 20:27, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I know it isent and how long ago was it when i said that lol! dont worry fair enough Germany has bigger population nd economy than the UK but i would say Britian and Germany were on par when it comes to Military, with the backing of the United States on our side though in real terms as a joint team like we mostly are we are much more powerfull than most country in the world.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Seth Whales (talk) 01:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

This wasent very fair i put sources for it up and they are reliable they are the local Govermant sources and the United Kingdoms govermants tourism service! Before editing my edits prehabs you should talk to me first too. What you have done is vandilism the rules of Wikipedia are is that you are aloud to add infomation with sources which i did. What do you think Cardiff is going to be 55th or something like that. Well have you been there recently its changed a lot and is one of the major cities of the Future for Europe and thats coming from the EU offical financial times and the local paper of Cardiff. I have just a rite to edit just as much as you do!

No-one is disputing your right to edit, but please try to understand the difference between the Cardiff (the local authority) and Cardiff (the city minus the rural hinterland within the local authority boundaries). I know it's confusing, but it's essential to the accuracy of Wikipedia. In Census 2001, Cardiff (the city, not the local authority) had a population of 292,150.[1] In the same year, the local authority had a population of 305,353.[2] I have added the sources so you can check the links for yourself - although you could also do this on the Cardiff article.

BTW it's not sensible to compare an estimate of Cardiff's (local authority) population in 2006 with census figures for other cities from 2001 to say "Cardiff is now the 11th largest city in the UK". If you want to make a claim like that you have to find equivalent up-to-date estimates for all the other places in the list of largest cities! Pondle (talk) 23:03, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

No i actually went through over cities in Britain which were ahead of Cardiff and there estemates show they arent as big s Cardiff now as they have grown by about 1,000 while Cardiff in 2008 has probably grown by 24,000. This isent surprsing seeing the amount of apartments and houses gone up in last few years. And btw i live in the rural area of Cardiff near Radyr and its still classes as the city these days

There is no comparable data for the different CITIES, only local authorities - different concepts entirely. If you can find a reference indicating that Cardiff is the 11th most populous local authority in the UK, please cite it. I have never seen this data. I do know that between 2001 and 2006, the population of Leeds is estimated to have grown by more than 34,000, and that of Manchester by more than 29,000, which seems to undermine your case that population growth in Cardiff is massively greater than other cities.

Actually ONS does not consider Radyr to be part of the built-up area of Cardiff since there is a gap of at least 200 metres between the two built-up areas. Radyr is, however, part of the City and County of Cardiff (i.e. the local authority) and the wider Cardiff Urban Area. Pondle (talk) 11:53, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes i know it is part of the city and county i live there! I could understand if you said Pentych, Creigiau and Tongwynlais wernt part of the city but these Days there is not much gab between Radyr and Whitchurch becasue of the developers and the big houseing development still being built, Cardiff Council had planned several thosand new homes in this area. Its all likely to change anyway in the forcoming years, the conservertive Welsh Asembly Member for Cardiff North, Jonathon Morgan(a friend of my family) is fighting to stop developers of building a massive international buisness park north of the M4 by Lisvane and a new M4 Junction. The city is rapidly running out of space and they got 2 choices building up or over Caerphilly mountain(can be done look at cities in the US), this is another arguement to show that in the last few years the population would of increased a hell of a lot more than other cities other than Edinburgh and London, Tony Blair him self said this is one of the fastest growing cities in the EU. The Echo posted a article this week saying 20,000 immagrants from abroud had moved to the city from mid 2002 to mid 2006, a massive increase and it is now 2008...

[edit] Your recent edits to Cardiff

Hi. When adding information to the infobox, please make sure that the fields you are using actually exist within the template. The amendments you made to the infobox (such as adding population_county and adding population_city(2006)) did not appear as they are not within the template and I had to rollback all of your changes. Also, the semi-protection tag was added by an administrator, and therefore you should not remove it. Thanks Bettia (talk) 12:26, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your recent edits to Wales

Your 2008 figures as far as I can see are unsourced (as in previous amendments along the same lines). I looked at the WAG web site and could not find anything. I suggest you initiate a discussion in TALK first on this so we can all agree what should be there.

I too come from Cardiff, will be in Toulouse this coming weekend to support the team etc. etc. However the language of your amendments seems promotional (rather like earlier comments by JdeJ on your page about another set of edits) or opinion. --Snowded (talk) 01:11, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Intro edits

Hello Cardiff! Thank you for contributing to the Wales page. However, I did remove your recent edits to the intro paragraph as it became too verbose for an intro. Your edits, if sourced, are very important, but I ask thank you add them to a Cardiff section further down the page. If you had to pick just one feature of Cardiff to highlight, what would that be? It is this kind of economy of words that we are looking for.Drachenfyre (talk) 04:55, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Cardiff. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Yamla (talk) 19:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Despite multiple warnings you continue to make unsupported edits to various pages, without quoting sources. You will be reported for vandalism if you continue.

latest EDIT SOURCES USED!

Well its a first, so thank you for that. I suggest you go to the sandpit and learn how to place authorities into text however as that is not the right way. That said I fail to see why, in an article which is already too long, you have added in the population of South-East Wales which includes other major towns such as Newport. It is simply not relevant. I have reversed but you can always attempt to get agreement to the change on the talk page. It is also conventional to reply on the talk page of the person who makes a comment on yours (don;t assume they have a watch in place) --Snowded (talk) 10:56, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
it should be inculded becasue, Cardiff is the major centre for this population and many people bass their lives on Cardiff and work and visit Cardiff and Cardiff is a massive infulance on them. It should be a metropolitan area of Cardiff and South East Wales really and probably will be in the future.
People in Newport and the Valleys might disagree with you. You may think that Cardiff should be a metropolitan area, but it isn't and you can't make it so by editing the Wikipedia. However if you think so then you should make a case on the talk page and see if others agree with you. You should also read my note on replying on people's talk page. I have you on my watch list in part because I have been considering reporting you as a vandal (my last warning was earlier today) but normally comments you put here in response to someone's question would go unanswered. You should reply on their talk page. I strongly suggest you spend some time learning about wikipedia using the sandpit. --Snowded (talk) 12:18, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
Any further vandalism will result in your being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Despite many warnings from many editors you persist in placing irrelevant edits, assertions unsupported by authority and opinions. It has gone beyond any excuse of ignorance given the amount of warnings and your complete lack of response to said warnings. The latest edit to the Cardiff point - a random statement, not even spelt properly is typical. Please cease, this is a last warning, next time you will be reported for persistent vandalism. --Snowded (talk) 22:44, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for adding incorrect information to Template:Cardiff, and this is a long and sad history of editing without regard for policy or consensus. It must stop.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

[edit] Please

Did you learn nothing from being banned? You are again placing unsupported statements on Cardiff. please STOP. Research this material in advance and cite before posting. --Snowded (talk) 11:27, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

OK I found the reference (you were not far out but best to quote the real number) and inserted the reference. You now have an example to follow for future additions. --Snowded (talk) 12:06, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

You are doing it again. The population figure you put in this morning does not appear in the citation. Now I assume you got the figure from somewhere but you need to enter that reference with the edit. This is basic stuff and your commitment to the article is to be commended but you need to observe the basics. --Snowded (talk) 06:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Please stop. You continue to add data to pages without citation and in inappropriate ways. The latest was here You have been warned about this several times and banned once. --Snowded (talk) 23:34, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your map

While I can appreciate the effort which went into creating this map I think you have some problems. FIrstly the image is from Mapquest which carries a copyright notice. Have you checked that you are allowed to use it in this way? Secondly the map is massive and dominates the page. It does not conform with any of the geography pages where there is a standard approach to this sort of thing. There are also people on the geography template pages who would help you get one right. I have not simply reversed the entry, although I think you should. I realise you are trying to improve the Wikipedia but unsourced data, failure to follow Wikipedia conventions etc. will mean you get subject to multiple reversals and banning which would be a waste. --Snowded (talk) 06:30, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Please make sure that you are using appropriate tags when uploading images. You shouldn't use the image description that you "created it all by myself" if you just took the image off a web site. It takes a lot of work for administrators to clean up these copyright violations. (ESkog)(Talk) 07:31, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
