Carlos E. Jimenez - Chicago Artist

Carlos E. Jimenez is an artist whose work provokes an emotional response from every enthusiast. He builds symmetry on his canvas by flowing lines and bold colors. By implementing natural textures and grains into each piece, his art offers a look that can be both edgy and dramatic. In some impressions, wavy and sometimes transparent lines can be described as romantic to the eye. His inspiring colors and shapes cause vibrations in the soul. These colors and shapes also build a harmony in his work that is rich and elegant. Carlos names his paintings after the visions he depicts, nebula, sunburst and transcendence as examples.
Carlos came to Chicago with his family from Costa Rica at the age of two and grew up in the Old Town and Lincoln Park neighborhoods of the 1960's. He was greatly influenced by many artists and free thinking bohemian types (hippies) who lived and worked on these streets during these exciting times.
Carlos has been an active participant of Chicago's extensive history of "outsider artists", and Latino artist organizations. Carlos especially enjoyed experimenting during the 80's with "Performance Art" along with artists who combined visual arts, music and stage productions presenting some pretty outrageous happenings. The "Performance Art" events often took place at Randolph Street Art Gallery, The Metro, Medusa's, The Lower Links, Annex Street Arena and Pick-Staiger Concert Hall in Evanston.
For the last four years Carlos’ art gallery and studio has enjoyed a great deal of success in the Wicker Park area of Chicago.
