Lebron was born in Lares, Puerto Rico to Gonzalo Lebrón Bernal and Rafaela Soto Luciano and had four siblings, Aurea, Augusto, Gonzalo, Jr. and Julio. Lebrón was raised in Pezuelas, a barrio in Lares where her worked in Hacienda Pezuelas.(p.17) Gonzalo Lebrón worked as the hacienda's butler and had a right to live in a "small house" and pocess farming land, while receiving a salary of $30.(p.19) In Pezuelas Lebrón began her education in a small community school. (p.20) Early in her life Lebrón contracted pulmony when she accidentally fell into a gutter that was full of water, this would make her grow with a frail body, beng unable to keep up with the constant activity of her brothers without feeling fatigue. (p. 21) Based she developed an introverted and contemplative personality, often spending her time admiring the nature found in the hacienda. (p.21) From Pezuelas the family moved to Mirasol, also in Lares, where Gonzalo Lebrón administered an hacienda owned by Emilio Vilellas. Here she received a better education, attending a local public school.(p.23) When Lebrón completed the sixth grade she attended the Segunda Unidad Rural, a middle school located in Bartolo, an abjacent barrio. (p.25) She concluded he formal education in the eight grade, continuing them indepently. (p.33) Although her father was Atheist, Lebrón was bauptized when she was fourteen years old along all of her siblings. (p.37) In the subsecuent celebration she met Francisco Matos Paoli, who was her first boyfriend. (p.38)
