[edit] Seating Capacity

According to Syracuse's Athletic website, the official capacity is 50,000. I know this has been exceeded in the past, but I think we should be official here. Also, over the summer of 2006, the univeristy added a luxury box in the southwest corner of the stadium, taking up seats in sections 207, 208 and I think part of 209. I can't find any official documents, but I saw on the local news that this reduced the maximum seating capacity by 50 or so. If somebody can find this it would be great. Yeah, let's go by the website. -newkai t-c 16:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Not to be too finicky, here, but can anybody say exactly how many seats the Dome's got? These numbers seem a bit round... Trekphiler 10:25, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

The Dome's website doesn't give an accurate number, and my feelings about that number were discussed above. According to GotTickets.com's page on the Dome, it's seating capacity for football is 49250, which seems about right to me. The basketball figure of 33,000 is and has been advertised as the capacity for as long as I can remember. However, on March 5, 2006 vs. Villanova, they officially sold out the Dome (there were plenty of seats available, but the Dome management stopped selling tickets b/c of the seat's poor sight lines) with 33633 [1]. That being the case, I think it would be fair to say the seating capacity for basketball is 33633. If we can get agreement on these numbers, we should change them in the article accordingly. I know back in its hey-day, the Dome could hold over 51,000. I know some seats were lost for additional handicap spaces, but to my knowledge no VIP booths or anything like that were ever added to the original configuration, so I don't know how over 1,000 seats could be lost. I'll investigate tonight, checking Post-Standard articles. -newkai t-c 22:40, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Just a question for newkai... why revert my reference to the Rogers Centre? The preceding text refers to Northeastern United States. I thought that it was interesting that just several hours away was a larger domed stadium. What gives? --Pbrownpbrown 06:33, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

I now see that I misread it as "within North America..." as opposed to "Within northeastern North America..." But what is northeastern North America? It's not a defined region. Then you might also have to include the RCA Dome. -newkai t-c 15:13, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
