[edit] Paradox?

Surely its a bit a paradox to state she has 'kept a low profile' in the first line and then conclude that she is currently appearing in a prime time reality tv show...??

[edit] Style

Am I mistaken, or is Carol Thatcher entitled to be called "The Honourable", since her mother is a Baroness?

No, you're not mistaken, and yes, she is. Proteus (Talk) 10:04, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I don't doubt this one bit, but where is there authority for this? Hypnoticmonkey (talk) 14:53, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

What do you mean with authority for this? It's is a custom, I don't know whether it is written in a law or something. "The Honourable" is a courtesy style, it's correct usuage is also described by the British Ministery of Justice: [1]. Demophon (talk) 16:15, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
That is precisely what I mean by authority, thank you Hypnoticmonkey (talk) 13:28, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but now I'm doubting myself... Do children get a title, honorific, or a style (in this case) if their mother is a (life) peer in her own right? I don't think so. Primarly also in the British system, children get a (courtesy) title only via their father! So..., if I'm right, she has the style "The Honourable", not because her mother is a Baroness, but because her father was a baronet. But I'm not sure about that. However, I saw some wikipedia sites of baronets, in which their children are named with the style "Hon.". Demophon (talk) 14:05, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Slanted commentary

Can *someone* who knows more about her please add *anything* besides the slew of negative comments that comprise this article?

what an appalling article - needs to rewritten by someone in the know. Steve-Ho 07:20, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photo?

Why no photo? No rights available? Nicolasdz 18:47, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unsuccessful Relationship?

What does the phrase "unsuccessful relationship" mean? Ttenchantr 20:03, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jewish?

So is she jewish since she has middle eastern DNA? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.69.194.85 (talk) 12:00, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

No, she isn't religiously Jewish (as I understand it she is Agnostic), most Jewish denominations recognise people as Jewish whose mothers were Jewish and Margaret Thatcher is not and never has been Jewish. All the DNA studies showed was that she had a fair amount of Middle Eastern ancestry, the Middle East includes Egypt, Libya, Israel, Syria, the Gulf States (including Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia), Jordan, Yemen and Lebanon. It suggested Arab ancestry, but of course there are Jewish Arabs, but there was nothing suggesting Jewish ancestry, so the answer is that she is not Jewish, but might or might not have Jewish ancestry, just as anybody might or might not have, so there is really nothing to add to the article about possible Jewish ancestry because it would amount to speculation.--Lord of the Isles 13:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
