[edit] Original Discussion

July 5, 2003: This is the Carol Moore discussed in this page which I just happend to find. Pretty wild and crazy. Just to correct, I personally don't care if people have no or a little or a lot of "state" in their small *voluntary* communities, as long as they don't aggress on or defraud others. But I do promote nonviolence, consensus and direct democracy, all of which would lead to a small state or not quite a state. All of this described in detail in http://www.secession.net.

Glad you saw fit to respond. Your clarification is now included but it did not seem to correct/contradict anything else there. And it still is not clear if you consider yourself an ethicist, feminist or anarchist. Not that everyone gets to control their own image, of course, but it would be useful to all if you would actually help improve the definitions of these things here. Hopefully they are less "wild and crazy" than accurate. Also there are good articles on Non-violence, consensus, consensus decision making, direct democracy, participatory democracy, voting systems, and all that, which your input would be extremely welcome on. Anonymous input might be less intimidating, given your obvious reputation. We like merged moots here, and we tolerate trolls, and like nature, thus we are: EofT

June 13, 2006: It occurred to me to re-edit this page to reflect what I really think and do and not what some unknown person wrote way back when which was fairly accurate, but incomplete, and filled with exaggerations of my own importance. Carol Moore in DC

[edit] NPOV

In looking over the article and doing some cleanup on it, it appears that this article most needs some reworking to comply with NPOV. It looks like we can fix this by doing a better job distinguishing between Moore's own viewpoints on controversial issues, and "indisputable" facts (e.g. "the sky is blue" type stuff). Otherwise, though, this article has great potential. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:42, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for Keeping Me and More Material

Thanks to those who think I should stay on wikipedia :-) Below is some more material that might be incorporated. I'll look around and see if I can find someone to do a better re-write at some point since obviously I didn't feel that one was as comprehensive as it could have been. (I remain curious as to who the original poster was and may be will do internet search of some of their unique phrasing to see if I can find them.)

[edit] Immediate Changes would like to see or make myself

IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE

ADD born 1948 (Note: I am not giving date since have been victim of identity theft before and now cautious.)

ANSWER TO QUESTION IF I’M AN ANARCHIST OR FEMINIST I’d like to replace sentence to read: Moore is considered a feminist and an anarchist by most, but describes herself as a libertarian decentralist feminist.

ADD AFTER ABOVE PARAGRAPH: She is a long time peace activist who has been active since “9/11” with the Washington D.C. Anti-War Network. She has been a war tax resister since 1976.

ADD AFTER ABOVE PARAGRAPH: She is the author of the book "The Davidian Massacre" published by Gun Owners Foundation which analysizes federal agents crimes during the Waco siege.

ADD IF POSSIBLE TO CATEGORIES American Anti-War Activist

CHANGE EXTERNAL LINK TO READ: Moore's Critique of antiglobalization tactics Carol Moore 17:51, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the anarchist/feminist line, we still need to find a source that says that, so that whole bit may go. SchuminWeb (Talk) 05:04, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Subject Made Changes in Tune with Wikipedia guidelines

I re-read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AUTO

especially "you should feel free to correct mistaken or out-of-date facts about yourself, such as marital status, current employer, place of birth, and so on....Wikipedia does not wish to have an inaccurate article about you."

So I have deleted or corrected a couple of clearly untrue inaccuracies and pure opinions from the original, unknown author - especially since they are not even sourced to any statement by me or others that might have given rise to such interpretations. And I have added footnotes in a couple places where the original author was accurate. (There are hundreds of emails on me being a critic of anti-globalization tactics and lots of rude comments about me by people supporting such tactics and I could refer to one or two if necessary. Otherwise I just replaced original postersnote on ONE page of my Street Fighting Man critique with the actual article itself.)

Since I'm linked as a "tax resister" I think for legal and informational reasons I should be able to put that in the context of being a long time peace activist and war tax resister. And I put in being author of THE DAVIDIAN MASSACRE since it actually is the thing I'm probably best known for and which got me lots of publicity, including on Nightline and television debates with major BATF and FBI figures. I think this is a nice clean neutral sourced article now.

Feel free to add anything else of interest from sourced info I've included about me above. Carol Moore 01:21, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No longer associated with DC Anti-War Network (DAWN)

I removed the reference to Carol's association with DAWN, rather than go into the details. Here's the source: http://www.dawndc.net/float.php?annc_id=512&section_id=2

MOORE CLARIFICATION - (reminder, do not delete, edit discussion topics - unless per Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines
Certain males in DAWN didn’t like my private email complaints to just a couple individuals about another participant’s pedophilia "jokes" and men-cheating-on-wives -with-men "jokes", so they widely circulated them. Rather than deal with the issue of whether this should be considered acceptable behavior, certain individuals preferred to yell “bigotry” against homosexuals and bisexuals. Those who didn’t like my criticisms of “diversity of tactics” (in its original and true definition which includes property destruction and fighting with police) and of Israel’s crimes and of its most fanatical US supporters jumped on the bandwagon. And this was just a few weeks after I finally succeeded in a two year campaign to get DAWN to say it opposed sexism in its points of unity!
So I decided to quit for the fifth and final time - and they endorsed this move. But much as they might like to re-write history, the truth is that I was the only female founder of DAWN who bothered to stay active for five and a half years, working on numerous projects described here and or here. The following events listed were largely initiated and organized by me:
2007 - APRIL 17 DAWN Presentation ON Palestinian Destroyed Villages. March 12 DAWN Protest: Congress Stand Up to AIPAC.
2006 - December 2, DAWN endorses Protest Israeli Siege of Gaza. August 9 DAWN initiated Anti-nuke forum with Hiroshima-Nagasaki victims, at Congress, shown on CSPAN. June 30 DAWN initiated Protest AEI Pro-Iran War Forum; June 6, 2006 (6-6-6) DAWN protest NO ARMAGEDDON FOR BUSH! April 24 DAWN Forum Is the Israel Lobby Promoting War on Iran? 03/06/06 DAWN Sponsored Protest of AIPAC.
2005 - Sept. 26 DAWN sponsored AIPAC Protest and March on Congress. May 28 DAWN Hands Off Iran protest. May 26 DAWN sponsored Pro-Palestine Welcome to Abbas at White House. May 23 - Protest AIPAC Conference.
Of course, all this makes me more controversial and noteworthy and likely to be kept on WIKIPEDIA when I wouldn’t mind seeing this bare bones biography deleted, if done in proper manner by a reputable editor (removed my own snide remark per Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines#Own_comments).

[edit] Can Subject Add References to Article??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AUTO would seem to OK my doing the following to an article started by someone else. (And anyone reading the original will know I didn't write it! :-)

  • a) deleting inaccurate material which I did
  • b) adding sentence establishing why I am well known, which I did a while back
  • c) adding references that prove assertions made by others in article (I have a whole list on this page)

Hearing no objections in next few days, I will do (c) Carol Moore 20:39, 23 October 2007 (UTC)User:Carolmooredc User talk:Carolmooredc

[edit] Importance

I have just tagged the article with {{importance}}. Dispite the statement reverting my last edit "(Notability has been established (survived an AFD),"[1], I find no evidence of this.

The article "survived" AfD because there was no consensus.Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Carol_Moore At that time, a number of editors requested reliable sources demonstrating notability. Since the nomination, the only new sources in the article are: - a link to her book on amazon.com [2] - a ref for an article she wrote in "NOMOS magazine" [3] - a review of one of her books in the Association of Libertarian Feminists newsletter (which she has written for).[4] There is certainly nothing to indicate that the book in question establishes notability. I have no idea if the former "NOMOS" was a reliable source, but I find no indication that having written an article for it establishes notability. Finally, I find nothing in the ALF newsletter article to suggest notability (or that it is a reliable source).

Other than those sources, the only sources are the three links (under "External Links") to her websites. This article has no reliable sources to establish notability.

Like I said a few months back I personally don't care at this point if I am removed - less of a target for homeland security. HO HO HO! Not to mention a variety of women-hating activists who like to trash me :-) And if I ever get truly notable a page will come up again. Meanwhile I'm having plenty fun playing around with fun topics and even other people's biographies here :-) On the other hand it's a challenge to see if I can stay, but since I can't get anyone ELSE to reference what's on thepage, despite all the reference above. Not to mention find someone to mention write up all the notorious things I've done -- the heck with it.
Carol Moore 02:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)User:Carolmooredc User talk:Carolmooredc
I put the question of my adding references above on here: Wikipedia Autobiography Talk twice and no one said I couldn't do it. So I did it :-) (I just did online links; there's lots more stuff not online, but mostly minor publications.) I'll let someone else decide if the two notes on article should be removed.

[edit] Conflict of Interest Note

FYI. I removed a lot of Original Research and non-NPOV material in the original done by an anonymous IP - see at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Carol_Moore&oldid=609688 . I added just one fact and all the references. I don't care too much if it gets knocked off wikipedia, but I certainly would not like to see it reverted to the original inaccurate one.
