Category:Cardinals (birds)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Most of the birds called "cardinals" were placed in the family Cardinalidae, with some in the Emberizidae. Both have undergone heavy revision in recent times. Namely, some supposed "tanagers" are now recognized to be closely related to the cardinals, while some "cardinals" turned out to be tanagers.
This category holds birds traditionally called "cardinals". See Category:Cardinalidae for the family's current genera.
