Carucage

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carucage was the name of a type of medieval taxation in England. It was levied on land, and replaced the old danegeld, which was last collected in 1162. Carucage was first collected in 1194. The basis was the size of the estate in hides or carucates.[1]
