Carter Bays

Carter Bays (b. 1975?)[1] is an American television writer. Along with writing partner Craig Thomas, he is best known as a creator, writer, and executive producer of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Like several of the main characters on the show, Bays and Thomas attended Wesleyan University.[2] The duo are also members of a band called The Solids. Bays plays guitar and is the lead singer of the band, which performed the theme songs for both Oliver Beene and How I Met Your Mother.[3]
Prior to the creation of How I Met Your Mother, Bays and Thomas wrote for a number of television shows including Oliver Beene and Quintuplets. They also wrote part two of the American Dad! episode "Stan of Arabia".
