Cartago Canton

Cartago is the name of the first canton in the province of Cartago in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 287.77 km²[1], and has a population of 140,686[2]. The city of Cartago is the capital city of the canton, and although, the provicial capital of province of Cartago.
Cartago is a T-shaped canton stretching southeast from its capital city to encompass a thin swatch of the Cordillera de Talamanca (Talamanca Mountain Range), and including portions of the Interamericana (Pan-American Highway).
The canton of Cartago is subdivided into 11 distritos (districts).
