Carstuckgirls.com
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carstuckgirls.com is a website offering online images and videos of women trying to free their cars from a variety of obstacles, as well as VHS and DVD hard copies that can be shipped to the recipient's home.[1] The Germany-based site centers around a pedal pumping related fetish combined with somewhat of a damsel in distress factor that may either intrigue or excite its viewers. Carstuckgirls.com has received several nominations and awards for its unique brand of online imagery.
The site was founded on February 2, 2003, and included pictures of a girl with her car stuck in the mud.[2] Since then, Carstuckgirls.com has expanded to include thousands of images and several full-length videos, and is now under the ownership of Swen Goebbels Videoproduktion. Swen Goebbels Videoproduktion offers a variety of sites to cater to automobile-related fetishes, including Madmanmovies.com, Drivinggirls.com, and Pedalpumpinggirls.com.[3]
In 2004, after just over a year of operation, Carstuckgirls.com was nominated for, and won, both the Webby and the People's Voice award at the Webby Awards ceremony. The awards came in the "Weird" category, due to the odd nature of the site. To win, Carstuckgirls.com had to beat out 4 other nominees, one of which had been nominated in previous years.[4] Although nominated again in 2005 and 2006, the website has not been able to recreate its 1st place finish. However, after its win, the website began to receive a lot of attention, both good and bad.
This attention ranged from a collection of small blogs to an entry in Wired magazine[5]. Some of those reviewing the website enjoyed its quirkiness, while others called it out for its lack of "likeability" or anything interesting.[6] Whatever the public's opinion, Carstuckgirls.com continues to produce images and videos for those interested, and has become notable due to its links on thousands of websites, including those focussed on humor, pornography, and pop culture in general.
