Cars.com
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cars.com is a website which launched in June 1998. It is a division of Classified Ventures, which is in turn a joint venture by major media companies including the Gannett Company, the McClatchy Company, the Washington Post Company, the Tribune Company, and Belo.[1]
Cars.com claims that two thirds of US car buyers use its service in some way. In October 2007, it announced plans for its largest marketing campaign ever, which will kick off with two mutli-million dollar spots in Super Bowl XLII in early 2008.[2] In the same month, Yahoo! announced plans to receive listings from Cars.com for their Yahoo! Autos service. The deal would allow cars.com listings to appear as advertisements targeted at consumers based on information they are looking at on Yahoo services.[3]
On May 20, 2008, due to unknown reasons, Cars.com became unavailable to European residents and most users outside the United States and Canada.
