[edit] Plot

A group of thieves led by Sid Carter (Sid James) attempt to steal a stock of contraceptive pills from a maternity hospital. The plan involves sending one of their number, Sid's reluctant son Cyril Carter (Kenneth Cope), in to case the joint disguised as a female nurse, however he soon becomes entwined in the hospital routine.

Matron featured all the main regular cast of the period with the exception of Peter Butterworth, and was the final Carry On for recurring players Terry Scott and Jacki Piper. It was the second and final Carry On role for Kenneth Cope.
