[edit] Masters of Science in Finance

At the heart of the Boston College graduate finance learning experience are the knowledge and perspectives of the faculty who teach in the programs. The Finance Department is nationally recognized and ranks among the top 25 by U.S. News & World Report.[8] Highly accessible and dedicated to the students, the faculty of the Carroll School of Management are acclaimed as teachers, scholars and practitioners. Learning is engineered to be cumulative and reinforcing. All MSF students first master the sophisticated framework of financial understanding, techniques and analysis. Through their choice of electives, students broaden their exposure or delve into a specific function or discipline. The innovative and comprehensive MSF curriculum provides students with the specialized knowledge and skills required to contribute, compete and advance in the dynamic realm of finance.

The MSA Program provides students with the analytical skills and tools required for success in the complex world of accounting today. The MSA Program builds on the undergraduate education and equips the student for the full range of opportunities in accounting and related fields. With its very flexible schedule, students can quickly satisfy the 150-hour requirement for the certified public accountant (CPA) examination in effect in most states. Major firms in both industry and public accounting consider the Carroll School a prime recruiting school and BC hosts extensive on-campus interviewing. Every year, more than 200 of these organizations visit the Boston College campus to interview students. The interviews produce outstanding job offers in public accounting, consulting, industry and government. Historically, 50 percent of the graduates accept positions with multinational professional services firms. [9] The MSA Program was also rated 7th best by Financial Times. [10]

[edit] Masters in Business Administration

The program's structure, with its overarching Management Practice sequence (MP), ensures the integration of concepts and experiential learning across courses and semesters. Learning and skill development are contextual, cumulative, and reinforcing.

Students are assigned to cohorts of 50 classmates, with whom they take the modules and courses in the required curriculum. Experiential learning projects are required in both the first and second years. Within the consulting project (year one) and business plan project (year two), faculty and staff compose four or five member teams to achieve a complementary mix of experience and capabilities. As the focus moves to external considerations, the second semester includes an examination of the complex demands of managing in a changing global environment. To complete their first-year course work, students choose four specialization electives to add depth to their understanding of their chosen discipline as well as participating in the consulting project.
