The Carroll Independent School District (Carroll ISD) is an independent K4-12 school district serving the city of Southlake, Texas (USA) and portions of nearby Grapevine, Colleyville, and Westlake.
In the early 1900's the Carroll Common School District was formed from independent schools near Lonesome Dove and White's Church as well as Sams School. The district was named after B.E. Carroll who was the Tarrant County Superintendant of Public Instruction.
Carroll ISD is consistently ranked among the top-rated school districts in Texas, due in no small part to the upper-income area it serves. The district and all of its schools were often all rated "Exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency, the highest ranking possible. However, in 2004-2005 the district was dropped to the "Recognized" ranking (the second-highest possible).
School spirit is exceptionally strong in the district: all of its schools share the same colors (green, white, and black) and the same mascot (the Dragon). The Carroll Dragon logo (a dragon, in the school colors, emitting lightning from its mouth, superimposed over an outline of the State of Texas) is among the most recognized logos in the area.
