Caroline Akrill
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Caroline Akrill writes children's pony books. Unlike many examples of the genre, Akrill's books are often very funny, like Akrill herself: “It is,” she wrote “perfectly possible to make a career out of misadventure and ineptitude.”[1] Her Eventer’s Trilogy is one of the best selling pony book series of recent times, selling over 70,000 copies.[2]
Akrill wrote for Pony Magazine: in 1974 the editor, Michael Williams, suggested that a serial she wrote -called I'd Rather Not Gallop- could be published as a full length book.[3] I'd Rather Not Gallop eventually became the first in a trilogy. These were followed with her Eventing series, then her only non-humorous book, Flying Changes, which is much darker. Her last trilogy was Silver Bridle.
