Carole Pankau is a Republican Illinois State Senator, representing the 23rd district since 2005. Pankau previously served as State Representative from 1993 to 2005.
Pankau was the Republican nominee for Illinois State Comptroller in 2006 but lost to incumbent Democrat Dan Hynes.
Since she has been elected to the state Senate, she has only successfully sponsored and passed a single piece of legislation. This piece of legislation favored her husband's connections to the construction industry.
The state Senate seat she currently holds has not been contested in 10 years. When she ran for the seat, it was uncontested.
Two months after Carole ran for state Comptroller, she said the position was not needed and should be eliminated. This is the opposite of what she said while running for the position.
