Carno is a village in Powys, Mid Wales located on the main A470 road between Llanbrynmair & Caersws.

Carno was the original Welsh base of the Laura Ashley company when Bernard and Laura moved there from Kent in 1961. The factory closed in 2005.[1]

- The designer & entrepreneur Laura Ashley (1925 - 1985) is buried in the churchyard at Carno [2].
- It was home to the family of Morris Llewellyn Humphreys, who was born in the village in 1899.
[edit] Wind Farm
Carno Wind Farm, which has the largest production capacity in the UK, started operation in October 1996. Consisting of 56 wind turbines each of 600 kilowatts (kW) maximum output, the combined maximum power of 33.6 megawatts (MW) made Carno the largest Wind Farm in Europe at the time of its construction. The total project cost was approximately £26 million.
The wind farm covers an area of over 600 hectares, situated on a plateau to the west of the village, 400 metres above sea level, on Trannon Moor. [3] [4]
