Carmel High School (CHS) is a public high school serving students in grades 9-12 in Carmel, NY and is part of the Carmel Central School District.

Carmel High School was constructed in 1929. The school has had three extensions: in 1969, 1980 and 2007.

[edit] Clubs
In addition to the clubs found in most American high schools, CHS has active clubs in several areas, including: Adelphi Step Club, Celtic Club (Irish heritage), Empire (formerly Ramifications) literary magazine, Rock Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Human Rights Club, Gay Straight Alliance and Mock Trial.[1]

The school hosts several music groups, including: Bella Voce chamber choir, Rock Club, CHS Singers, Jazz Band, Men’s Choir, Music Council and Music Production Workshop.[1]

CHS interscholastic teams compete in several sports, including Football, Baseball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball and Wrestling, as well as track and cross country. The girls 4x8 won the 2006 NSIC, which is the indoor track national championship.

In 2005-2006, students took AP exams in 15 of the 35 course areas in which tests are offered. In 2006, students' scores in the New York State Regents examinations met or exceeded the state average in five of the seven test areas.[2]
