Carlynton School District is a small school district located approximately six miles west of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania The district consists of three communites, Carnegie, Crafton, and Rosslyn Farms. From these communities comes the name Carlynton (CARnegie, RossLYN Farms, and CrafTON.)

Carlynton School District consists of three schools.
[edit] Carlynton Junior Senior High School
Although it is actually located in Robinson Township, the high school's mailing address is in Carnegie. The Jr.-Sr. High consists of nearly 700 students from all three communities. The building houses grades seven through twelve.
[edit] Carnegie Elementary School
Located on Franklin Avenue in Carnegie, the building houses kids in kindgergarten through sixth grade from Carnegie.
[edit] Crafton Elementary School
Located on Crafton Boulevard in Crafton, the building houses kids in kindergarten through sixth grade from Crafton and Rosslyn Farms. The building housed Crafton High School until the formation of the district.

Bill Cowher, who was born and raised in Crafton, attended school at both Crafton Elementary and Carlynton High School. He was the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers for 15 years, from 1992 to 2007. He now lives in North Carolina with his family, and is an analyst for The NFL Today.

- After the Virginia Tech Shooting, the high school, and many other schools in the Western Pennsylvania area received several "bomb threats" which culminated with the school being evacuated the Friday before the Memorial Day school picnic, at Kennywood park. The building was evacuated because a "bomb" was found the men's room. This "bomb" was a pipe wrapped in electrical tape and copper wiring with the inner wirings of a doorbell placed inside the pipe.
