The station is served by three trains per hour, with additional trains in peak hours.

Carlton is the closest station to OKI Jubilee Stadium, the northern home ground of the St George Illawarra Dragons. Intercity services to and from Wollongong on the South Coast line make special stops at Carlton on days when games are played at OKI Jubilee Stadium.
