[edit] Overview

Carlsbad High School is renowned for its high level of academic success and graduate levels. Located within walking distance to the Carlsbad beach, the sprawling campus features numerous buildings and facilities. While one may presume that the caliber of students at the school would be high because of the premier location, many students are from families struggling financially. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the high school 8/11/2006 [1]to announce his plans for the future of funding and education in California's schools. The famous Carlsbad Gap is located on its campus.

[edit] Future Renovation

Beginning this year, Carlsbad High will be modernized in order to update to 21st century standards. Some buildings will remain while most will be demolished to make room for the new facilities. The football stadium will include an all-weather track along with additional seating. Additional parking will be added, which will relieve the overcrowding of vehicles on Monroe Street. Other new facilities include a large performing arts building, new vocational education building, and two large two-story classroom buildings. The renovation process is expected to begin in late 2007 and end at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.
