Carlos Soria

Carlos Soria is an Argentine Justicialist Party (PJ) politician, currently mayor of General Roca, Río Negro Province. He was the Secretary of Intelligence of the Argentine Republic during parts of 2002. He was appointed to temporarily fill the position by then President Eduardo Duhalde, after the fall of Fernando de la Rúa's government.

Soria was elected a deputy in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies three times until called on by Duhalde to become Secretary of Intelligence. The major event in Soria's term as Secretary was his indictment on the assassination of two piquetero leaders, because of the alleged participation of SIDE in the operation. Ater Soria's resignation following his alleged involvement in the 'massacre', he stood as PJ candidate to be governor of Río Negro in 2003, without success, but was elected to be mayor of General Roca.

Soria is facing charges for breaking the last intelligence reform which prohibited doing intelligence operations on people based on their political beliefs.
