Carlos Renato de Abreu, or simply Renato (born June 9, 1978 in São Paulo), is a Brazilian football midfielder.

Specialising in free kicks, Renato was named by the press and fans one of the most important players in Flamengo's triumph in the 2006 Brazil Cup.

Renato starts his soccer career in Santa Catarina playing at Marcílio Dias and Joinville.

In 2000, he moved away to São Paulo and played in União São João de Araras.

A year later, Renato was transferred to Guarani.

Because of his great presentations was contracted by ""Corinthians" where won some titles, like Torneio Rio-São Paulo, Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Paulista.

But Renato just was considered a great footballer when he played in ""Flamengo"" between 2005 and 2007.

Renato was the Flamengo best-scorer in 2005 and 2006, this year he won again the Copa do Brasil, now against ""Vasco da Gama"".

In 2007, Renato continues playing well and winning championships. Now he wons the Taça Guanabara and Campeonato Carioca.

But at July 10, 2007, Flamengo announced his transference to ""Al-Nasr"", a club in the UAE. Renato already stays at Al-Nasr nowadays.
