[edit] Career
Carlos Eduardo is known to be a great young midfielder, who came through alongside Lucas in the Brazilian youth teams. Carlos Eduardo was spotted first by a Real Madrid scout in 2005, Madrid decided not to sign him as they thought he would need time to adapt to Spanish football.
In the 2007 Copa Libertadores Carlos Eduardo gave a disappointing display in the 2nd Leg of the Final against Boca Juniors, but that does not erase the positive impression he made earlier in the tournament. He was full of clever footwork, rapid turns and dangerous crosses from the left wing.
Grêmio's latest home-grown hope, he scored only one goal in the Copa Libertadores, highlighting the fact that he is more of a maker rather than a taker of chances.
He has 3 appearances for Brazil at the U-20 level.
On August 29, 2007 he moved for a record fee of €8 million to 1899 Hoffenheim.[1] On May 4, 2008 Carlos Eduardo received a 3 game suspension after video evidence showed him kicking FC Köln player Roda Antar in the face.[2]
