The Carlos Arvelo Municipality is one of the 14 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Carabobo and, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 146,598.[1] The town of Güigüe is the shire town of the Carlos Arvelo Municipality.[2]

The Carlos Arvelo Municipality, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, has a population of 146,598 (up from 127,236 in 2000). This amounts to 6.6% of the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 282.5 people per square mile (175.57/km²).[4]

The mayor of the Carlos Arvelo Municipality is Marisol de Castellanos, elected on October 31, 2004 with 52% of the vote.[5] She replaced Danilo Montecalvo shortly after the elections.[6] The municipality is divided into three parishes; Güigüe, Belén, and Tacarigua.[7]
