[edit] Early Career
His broadcasting career began at 15 on Wiltshire Radio while he was still at school. He presented an early morning show while studying for his O Levels, but still managed to achieve good results. He was also part of the original team at GWR - presenting the first day of test transmissions.
In 1987 he joined Signal 1 in Stoke-on-Trent, where he presented the Drivetime show under the name Carl Emms. He went on to appear on Cardiff's Red Dragon FM followed by the Chiltern Radio Network, where he presented the late night 10pm-2am show. After this he took on the Breakfast show on Northants 96.
[edit] The Midlands
He joined Birmingham's BRMB in 1993 following a shake up at the station. There he presented a request show; Call Carlos where listeners were invited to call in with requests for their favourite songs. After some years with BRMB, he moved to 100.7 Heart FM, where he hosted the mid-morning show and the station's popular Time Tunnel, where hits from a particular year are played and listeners have to guess the year.
[edit] Wave105
Carlos was removed from the 100.7 Heart FM mid-morning show in May 2005 and was replaced by Steve Denyer, who currently presents in that slot. Station bosses at the time said that they wanted younger presenters, and several of Carlos's colleagues, such as Nick Piercey, Paul Bryant and Ian Danter were also axed that year. Carlos moved to Hampshire where he joined Wave 105 and presented a show on Saturday morning. Around this time, he was also heard on Magic 105.4, where he stood in for presenters who were away. He later took over Wave 105's morning show from Mondays to Saturdays.
[edit] Back to Brum
He has been with Smooth Radio since September 2007, where, as well as presenting the afternoon show from 1-4pm, he also hosts a programme on Saturday morning between 10am and 2pm.
He lives near Lichfield.
