[edit] Location
The shopping centre is located 22 km from Sydney's central business district on Pennant Hills Road 8 km from Parramatta at its intersection with Carlingford Road, both of which link to the Hills Motorway. Marsden Road, the start of Metroad , is located 350 metres to the south of the centre.[1]
The shopping centre is reachable by Sydney Buses and Hillsbus services from Epping railway station on the Northern Line of the CityRail network.[2]
[edit] History
The centre was built in 1965, and underwent several changes of ownership in the early 1990s. Major redevelopments took place upon GPT's acquisition of the centre, including refurbishment of the Woolworths store in 1998. In 2000, a $40 million upgrade saw the shopping centre gain a Coles supermarket (replacing a Franklins) and add 3,000 m² of floor space.[3] In March 2006, the closure of the 8,000 m² Myer store on the third floor facilitated a move by Target into the space in November 2006. Target's original space was filled by Bing Lee, Go-Lo and Priceline Pharmacy in April and June of 2007. In Priceline's old space,it was announced in June that a Dymocks Books will be opening. (It opened late August of 2006.) Around this same time, Chemworld Chemist changed ownership to Amcal Pharmacy and had a minor facelift.
Woolworths has recently changed their check out systems by adding 4 self serve systems and spreading out the 12 items or less aisles.
The centre is in close competition with Westfield North Rocks although it does feature more stores.
Locals refer to the centre as Carlo Court.
