Trained under: Carlson Gracie, Marcelo Saporito, Marcelo Alonso,Manimal, Zé Mario Sperri, Murilo Bustamente,Bebeo Duarte e Ricardo Libório
Carlão started his Jiu Jitsu career in 1993 training at Carlson Gracie School in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro under the supervision of Marcelo Alonso and Saporito.
Carlão is the head Jiu Jitsu coach at the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club.
