[edit] History

Carine Senior High School was established in 1973 and reached Senior High School status three years later. It now caters for roughly 1290 students from Years 8 to 12, and offers a range of Tertiary, Non-Tertiary and VET (Vocational Education and Training) subjects in Years 11 and 12. The new prefects now aspire to be like their predacessors; Brent Eales, Jasmin Angeliv, Shirley Thoo, Sam Down, Charlie Davis, Robert Reid, Mark Scott, Tommy Dempers, Alex Nell, Sophie Sharp, Chris Chesky and Courtney Rawlings. Currently the school website is under construction and is likely to be completed by 2015. The female toilets have recently been repainted into various colour schemes including the Ribena room, sunset room, rainbow room, madurin room, ocean room and many others to cater for the wants of Carine girls.

  • Carine Senior High School students have performed strongly in state and national academic competitions such as the Australian Mathematics Competition, RACI Titration Stakes and APPEA program, and are also regular participants in the Sharemarket Game, Solar Car Challenge and Electric Vehicle Challenge to name but a few.[citation needed]
  • The school typically excels in sporting competitions such as interschool athletics and swimming meets.[citation needed]
  • Carine has also had success in dance, drama, debating, music and art events.[citation needed]
  • In 2005 the school was awarded the custody of the Sandakan Memorial in Kings Park, Perth, in recognition of its long-standing participation in a flower-laying ceremony on the plaques sited on trees within Kings Park commemorating fallen servicemen and women. The school has conducted this remembrance on 24th April, the day before ANZAC Day, since 1986.
