Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital's emergency department is a certified level I trauma center.[3][4] CRMH also operates two LifeGuard-10 helicopters to provide air ambulance transport.[5]

CRMH was founded in 1899.
[edit] Virginia Tech massacre
On April 16, 2007, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital received victims of the Virginia Tech massacre. Three patients were reportedly treated.[6]
