Carilda Oliver Labra is a Cuban poet, born in Matanzas in 1924.[1]
She studied Law at the University of Havana.[1] She is also known to excel at drawing, painting and sculpting.[citation needed]
Carilda is one of the most influential Cuban poets.[2] Her style is very tender coming back over and over again to love subjects, the role of women in society and in particular, herself. She has been the recipient of numerous national and international prizes including: The National Poetry Prize (1950), The National Literature Award (1997) and The José de Vasconcelos International Prize (2002).[1] Me desordeno, amor, me desordeno might be her most famous poem, others as Discurso de Eva (Eva's speech) show a profound literary technique.
