Carey Bailey is head football coach at Howard University. He compiled a 4-7 record in his first season in 2007.

Bailey is an alumnus of the University of Tennessee and a former defensive lineman on the Volunteers football team. Bailey was a 4 year letterman and was a member of the 1989 and 1990 Southeastern Conference championship teams. As a junior at Tennessee he led the volunteers in sacks, tackles for loss, and he led all defensive linemen in big plays. Prior to becoming the Head coach at Howard, Bailey served as defnsive line coach at The University of Minnesota. Bailey served as an assistant at West Virginia University where the mountaineers won the 1993 Big East championship with a pefect 11-0 record, Virginia Military Institute, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Middle Tennessee State University, [[Oklahoma State University].
