Carentan is a town and commune of the Manche département in Normandy, France. It is also the chief town of the canton of Carentan in the arrondissement of Saint-Lô. It is likely the site of ancient Crociatonum.[1] This town is close to the site of the World War II Battle of Bloody Gulch.

[edit] 101st Airborne March created in Carentan

The "101st Airborne March" was composed by Daniel Bourdelès, a Norman composer, for the celebration of the liberation of Carentan, in June 1994. This march is extracted from the CD "Carentan, the sky memory" (1994), produced by the town. It is steadily used as a musical illustration for the Normandy liberation films on France3 regional TV.
