Carate Urio is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 45 km north of Milan and about 6 km northeast of Como. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,222 and an area of 6.9 km².[1]
The municipality of Carate Urio contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Cavadino, Greppone, Pangino, Riva, Olzavino, and Lestresio.
Carate Urio borders the following municipalities: Brienno, Faggeto Lario, Laglio, Moltrasio, Schignano, Torno.
