Carasmatic is Irene Cara's third album released in 1987. It was her only album for Elektra Records. The album was mostly produced by George Duke. Many popular singers, musicians and producers also contributed to this album such as Luther Vandross, James Ingram, Patrice Rushen, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, George Johnson of The Brothers Johnson, Michael Bolton, Syreeta, Joyce Kennedy of Mother's Finest, James Newton Howard and Danny Sembello, brother of Michael Sembello.
The lead single, "Girlfriends" was well received by her fans, but not by many outside of that. The second single failed to generate any airplay. While a good album, it got lost in the shuffle.
