Please consider checking the sentence quoted here. WWII lasted from 1939 (or, as regards the United States, from 1941) to 1945, so the logic does not make sense.

"(...), the Minutemen were eventually disbanded by Captain Metropolis himself in 1949, but he continued his crime fighting career until he was called back into service for WWII."
