Talk:Captain Howdy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm unsure of whether to post an image of Captain Howdy on this article, as it is a rather frightening picture (as is intended). I won't upload an image until I get some feedback on whether or not that would be appropriate and if so whether or not I need to place a warning on the top of the page etc.--KVE 06:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)KVE

Stick a waring on top of the page, I split a bottle of coke all over myself O_O that thing is just creepy (when you see it at 3:00am--Blue-EyesGold Dragon 01:29, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image

This is KVE again, the original author of this article. I've decided to include an image of Captain Howdy in this article despite my previous statement that I would wait for a response, as I feel that I probably won't get any response unless I actually place the image in the article (as copyright hunters will probably track it down promptly). I will wait and see what happens to this image and the warning at the top of the page, and watch for any comments or questions if they arise. --KVE 21:59, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

  • I think the way you have the image now is appropriate. The image is placed low on the page, so one can read the {{disturbing}} warning and read a description of the image before scrolling down to view the image itself. I was expecting a very disturbing image, but with the warning and description in mind, it was much less disturbing than I imagined it would be. So I would just leave the page as it is now. --Metropolitan90 04:26, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure, but I read it somewhere that they also overdubb the image on Norman Bate's face at the end of Pshyco. You may want to look into it before you decide to put it in, if you do. --A Comcast user.

It's not that image. But it's for a similar effect... 惑乱 分からん 01:18, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Someone apparently deleted the warning and moved the picture up on the page. I had a hard time just clicking the talk page button. Gdfanatic21594 (talk) 22:47, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Creepy?

"Although the demon's make-up is not as frightening or creepy as Linda Blair's as the possessed Regan..." This seems to be a Point of View on the topic. I have no idea how to make this NPOV as of yet. Does anyone else? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Saxby (talkcontribs) 22:41, 7 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Regarding the "creepiness" of Howdy

I agree that the refference to the "creepiness" is completely POV.Measuring "creepininess' can only be measured by a person's perspective and only a person's perspective.Somebody please remove that.Nadirali 22:45, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Nadirali

[edit] Merge?

It seems a little strange to have separate pages for Pazuzu and Captain Howdy when they are essentially the same character. Coudln't Captain Howdy be merged as a section on the Pazuzu page? user:Mr. Blonde 139 16:33, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

They are not the same "character" at all. If you read the articles they state the difference very clearly. Pazuzu's origin was in the folklore of Ancient Assyria. "Captain Howdy" was the affectionate name Regan gave to the demon, later known to be called "Pazuzu" in the fictional novel and movie "The Exorcist".DATBUS (talk) 08:03, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
It seems strange to me that there is even an article called "Captain Howdy", it was just a nickname used very briefly in the story, not really worthy of an article. They weren't even the same character actually, since Cpt. Howdy was just the nickname used for the "demon/Pazuzu" character, only for a short time in the book and film. I agree with a merge.
