Talk:Captain Dan & the Scurvy Crew

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm at a bit of a loss here. To the best of my knowledge, Captain Dan is the preeminent (if not the only) representative of the musical style "pirate rap." This leads to two questions: First, why was this article deleted in the first place? Second, how do we keep it from happening again? (The really vague template presently atop the page says I should do something to try to establish notability under WP:MUSIC, but I don't honestly know how to make it more clear other than putting "they're the only ones that do this, that's why this article should be here" in the article itself, and that sort of self-referential meta weirdness is inappropriate.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.129.239.176 (talk • contribs)

You could start with finding some, any, external coverage that asserts notability. A newspaper article or the like would do nicely. — Scientizzle 17:22, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
A quick look through Google didn't turn up a good deal aside from forum and blog posts. When the Cap'n gets a little more recognition, I'll definitely support adding an article. As it stands, this would be good as a subpage in Joshfist or Thorsvensson's userspace, pending some more references. Octane [improve me] 02.12.07 0710 (UTC)
Hey, if you're going to go after this article about "notability" then there's so much more stuff on Wikipedia that needs to be deleted as well. Would you really find articles about characters from sc-fi TV shows or abotu college football in a real encyclopedia? 99.247.33.108 (talk) 04:52, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Also note, he has over 16,000 followers (Myspace friend whatnot). While Optimus Rhyme has a 5000 followers (myspace friend whatnot). How come Optimus Rhyme has more info on Wiki that Capn D? I suggest an interview. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.85.232.249 (talk) 04:12, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

It seems to me that appearance on four radio talk shows establishes enough notability. Can the notability template be removed already? --Arbiter125 02:29, 24 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arbiter125 (talk • contribs)
