Captain Hareblower

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Captain Hareblower is a Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies theatrical cartoon short released in 1954. It was directed by Friz Freleng and starred Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam, with both voices provided by Mel Blanc. The story was written by Warren Foster and music composed by Carl Stalling. The Technicolor cartoon is seven minutes long. Though the title is a parody of Horatio Hornblower, there is no other reference to the popular character or his adventures.

Pirate Yosemite Sam spots another ship and demands its surrender. All of the crewmen abandon ship, leaving only Bugs Bunny, a stowaway in a box full of carrots. Bugs refuses to give up and a battle ensues.

[edit] Trivia

  • Around the 1953-1954 season, Warner Bros. cartoons began using a new set of "bullet" titles, while the ending sequence had the old style titles. The ending sequence would change later on in the year.
