The Caproni-Vizzola F.5 was an Italian fighter aircraft built by Caproni. It was a single-seat cantilever low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear.
[edit] Development
The F.5 and the F.4 were developed in parallel, and shared a common airframe. Delays in the F.4 production meant that the F.5 prototype was the first to fly. After testing, 14 pre-production F.5s were ordered.
No production models were built as the company decided to produce the more developed F.6 model.
[edit] Variants
The F.4 model was designed with an 664 kW (890 hp) Isotta-Fraschini Asso 121 RC 40 inline engine , but this was changed to a more powerful German Daimler-Benz DB 601A, causing delays in the prototypes construction.
