Capital punishment in Georgia (country)

In Georgia the last capital punishment took place in 1995 by single shot to the back of the head. It was assigned in a murder case. The death penalty was completely abolished in Georgia on the 1st of May 2000 when Protocol No. 6 to the ECHR was signed. Later Georgia also adopted the Second Optional Protocol to the ICCPR.
