Capão do Cipó is a municipality of the western part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. and its population was 2,623 in 2003. The origin of the name comes from the Tupi language. It is located 627 km west of the state capital of Porto Alegre, northeast of Alegrete.
The population has passed over the 5,000 mark. The main economy is agriculture and it contains 500 square kilometres of soybean production.
