Welcome to Wikipedia, Candleguy1994! I am CWii and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! [edit] Thanks

Thanks for your welcome (and the virtual cookies - yum!) I've often wondered, what is the difference between (~~~~) and (--~~~~). Is there one?

Here. I saved one for you.

--~~~~ just puts a minus sign before the signature. It sometimes makes it easier to read. – ClockworkSoul 15:19, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: barnstar

Thanks! In your comment, you said it was for "people like you creating pages like this". Which page did you mean? – ClockworkSoul 15:17, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, I was originally going to post it on your doppelganger page, but then I thought that you wouldn't see it until November, so I moved it. --Candleguy1994 (talk) 17:03, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Something I was wondering

Hello, Candleguy. Regarding using a photo from stock.xchng, the short answer is no, you cannot use material borrowed from other web sites. The less short version is that Wikipedia can only use images that are licensed under a free license (such as the GFDL) or that are in the public domain. See Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:Image copyright tags, and Wikipedia:Image use policy for a full explanation of the licensing policy. – ClockworkSoul 22:24, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

According to their terms of use: "It is illegal to duplicate, download or distribute any Content from this Site except for your use, and you are subject to the Usage Guidelines." That page goes into considerably more detail, but it's not an especially generous license. – ClockworkSoul 06:09, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
A more explicit statement to that effect is here: "SELLING AND REDISTRIBUTION OF THE IMAGE (INDIVIDUALLY OR ALONG WITH OTHER IMAGES) IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN! DO NOT SHARE THE IMAGE WITH OTHERS!". Because of the limitation on redistribution, we unfortunately cannot use it. It's a shame, they have some nice images. – ClockworkSoul 06:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
