Brie-Comte-Robert is a commune of the Seine-et-Marne département in France.
Brie-Comte-Robert is on the edge of the plain of Brie and was formerly the capital of the Brie française.
"Brie" comes from the Gaulish briga, meaning "plateau". The "Comte Robert" was Robert I of Dreux who owned the town and was a brother of the King Louis VII.

Brie-Comte-Robert is a capital l ancian of the Brie.
Brie-Comte-Robert saw wandering people. A sand pit La sablière testify to this time. There are many traces of l'époque Gallo-Roman and the Middle Ages, as well as traces of burials to l'emplacement of the cemetery of the city.

There is construction with Brie-Comte-Robert more and more; three years ago, there were still empty grounds close to the downtown area, even towards the francilienne, there is construction.

[edit] Saint-Etienne's church
Built in XIIIe century under Robert II of Dreux, it is dedicated to saint Étienne, first martyr of Christendom. Of Gothic style, it comprises a rosette of XIIIe century to the top of the church, superb sculptures and woodworks of XVe century; with l exterior his propping up waste-gas mains are decorated, and a tower supplements its frontage. Its arrow, which dominates the city, can be seen with kilometers on the plate of the Brie.
