[edit] Missing ships

In regard to the six missing ships from this list, I believe I have found them, so to speak. There were a total of six ships that were cancelled and thus never completed by the Navy. you can confirm this on http://uboat.net/allies/warships/class.html?ID=80 also you can see that on http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ships/ships-de.html those six ships are not listed, because they were never commissioned. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 20:22, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

after doing some more searching, http://www.destroyers.org/ShipsStore/SS-Pages/Profiles/Cannon_Class-DE.htm shows 6 ships that were transfered to France upon completion. Perhaps, these are the missing ships in question instead. Adding these might change the template a bit, but I'll give it a try. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 20:26, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] alphabetizing this template

From my experience, these sort of templates are not alphabetized. This is because the template helps to show which ship came out in what order. Hence they typcially are sorted by their number instead. You can see this more over on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ships/Footers. But I'm open to hearing arguments for the alphabetized version. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 07:21, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
